I will now jump in to the pool of excessive vomit. To me, this means that I will lead my life, regardless of how "vomitey" and dirty it may become. Only if I jump into something truly dirty, and roll around in it, can i truly appreciate it. Complete exhaustion and personal understanding is the way in which I will confront each dilemma i am presented with. Then, once that phase has been appreciated, I will move to the next. I will continue moving through phases and i will therefore continue to roll around in vomit until I have found myself, until I have grasped the idea of what it means to HAVE a true sense of self.

Goodnight

MOST IMPORTANTLY, do not CAPTURE your beast. A captured beast is not a beast at all.

We often act only according to REASON. We ignore PASSION, and IMPULSE, which are key to a sense of ADVENTURE. Because of this REASON, we are torn by CIRCUMSTANCE. We are unable to break free. Do not let CIRCUMSTANCE rule you. Do not let it CONTROL you. Do not make up excuses for finding that adventure you INWARDLY crave. STop IGNORING your innards. Attain your DREAMS, regardless of how UNattainable they may be. Reach for a star, and CLUTCH it.

Sometimes we must listen to our inner BEAST. Let it be in HARMONY with our higher senses. DO not DESTROY it; if you do, you will not only lose the beast. You will lose EVERYTHING else.

I've seen the lights go out on Broadway-
I saw the Empire State laid low.
And life went on beyond the Palisades,
They all bought Cadillacs-
And left there long ago.

We held a concert out in Brooklyn-
To watch the Island bridges blow.
They turned our power down,
And drove us underground-
But we went right on with the show...

I've seen the lights go out on Broadway-
I saw the ruins at my feet,
You know we almost didn't notice it-
We'd see it all the time on Forty-Second Street.

They burned the churches up in Harlem-
Like in that Spanish Civil War-
The flames were everywhere,
But no one really cared-
It always burned up there before....

I've seen the lights go out on Broadway-
I watched the mighty skyline fall.
The boats were waiting at the Battery,
The union went on strike-
They never sailed at all.

They sent a carrier out from Norfolk-
And picked the Yankees up for free.
They said that Queens could stay,
They blew the Bronx away-
And sank Manhattan out to sea....

You know those lights were bright on Broadway-
But that was so many years ago...
Before we all lived here in Florida-
Before the Mafia took over Mexico.
There are not many who remember-
They say a handful still survive...
To tell the world about...
The way the lights went out,
And keep the memory alive....

He's five foot-two, and he's six feet-four,
He fights with missiles and with spears.
He's all of thirty-one, and he's only seventeen,
He's been a soldier for a thousand years.

He'a a Catholic, a Hindu, an Atheist, a Jain,
A Buddhist and a Baptist and a Jew.
And he knows he shouldn't kill,
And he knows he always will,
Kill you for me my friend and me for you.

And he's fighting for Canada,
He's fighting for France,
He's fighting for the USA,
And he's fighting for the Russians,
And he's fighting for Japan,
And he thinks we'll put an end to war this way.

And he's fighting for Democracy,
He's fighting for the Reds,
He says it's for the peace of all.
He's the one who must decide,
Who's to live and who's to die,
And he never sees the writing on the wall.

But without him,
How would Hitler have condemned him at Labau?
Without him Caesar would have stood alone,
He's the one who gives his body
As a weapon of the war,
And without him all this killing can't go on.

He's the Universal Soldier and he really is to blame,
His orders come from far away no more,
They come from here and there and you and me,
And brothers can't you see,
This is not the way we put an end to war.

1:28 pm - Organized Religion Part 2
If anyone read my post, and thought that it was way too unrealistic...here's another idea.

During the time of Christmas...we have a huge service. A service that everyone in the community will attend. In this service we have Preists, Rabbis, and people from every religion. We have gospel singers, sermons and the whole she-bang! We all hold hands and rejoyce.

If this can't show the world that at least one community cares about all of us uniting, I don't know what will. Maybe eventually, everyone will come to be like this...come to accept every single religon for what it is. Even better, maybe everyone will realize that all religions are basically the same thing. They're all giving us hope, just with different languages, and differnet prayers, and even different gods.

Maybe this will show the radicals that others do accept their religion...or it will show all the peole starving in refugee camps that we do understand them! That we can all start this with one small service is amazing...but I really think it can lead us in the right path.

As a friend of a friend once told him: "maybe all of these religions are part of a metaphorical keyhole and we just haven't put the pieces together correctly...but they all fit perfectly and when we look through, we see something uniform"

1:02 pm - Organized Religion
Rosh Hashanah is supposoed to be a golly event. Apples and honey and what not. It surely is, but think about what its like for everyone else? While we're having our nice little apples and honey festival, palestinians are planning for the next terror attack on israel. During Christmas, Osama Bin Laden's friends are thinking about the dirty American Scumbags giving presents.

I can't think of one instance where Organized religion has ever lead to anything worthwhile, substantial, or even just plain good. Yea, the religions have fun holidays, but look at what else they cause. WARS! Tons and tons and tons and tons and tons of wars. Look at the crusades and the fighting. Look at WW2, look at the Spanish Inquisition, look at the Israeli terrorist attacks, look at Saddam's Genocide!

What's the point? I know that in the "Dark Ages" our fellow people needed a guiding light, and religion was the only thing that could give them answers, but the crusades came about. Yes, it may have given us answers for the plague, but instead, what would have happened if monks didn't beat themselves, they ordinary people didn't look up to heaven 24/7, and they all got together to find a cure for the hated disease.

Now, especially, I feel like organized religion isn't needed. Yea, we should all hae something to pray to, someone to heal our family members and what not, but we shouldn't do it in a church, temple, or mosque. We should just do it privately, in bed, and hope that our prayers will come true. No need to pray in latin, or Hebrew, just pray in our own language...or better yet, we should all unite with one language. I realize that this is an incredibly ideal world, and religion will never disappear, but think about how much nicer things would be.

Sometimes, I wonder why I am openly a Jew, and why friends are openly Catholic. It creates uneeded debates about Jesus christ and Mohammaad, and even God! Why can't we all get along? That is something that we should all think about!

On the other hand, I feel that if I dont go to temple my family will look down upon me. They'll look down upon the fact that I am not openly celebrating my heritage, and they'll shun me. I'm in a dilema, and the world should be too.

10:21 pm - Review Of Maria Full of Grace
Recently, an Enlgish subtitled movie (originally in Spanish), Maria Full of Grace (directed and written by Joshua Marston) came out in THEATERS NEAR YOU! Well, actually, I wouldn't be all too hyped. To tell all of you anxious spectators the truth....I have quite mixed feelings. I'll review each important category separately.

Before I start...Here's a synopsis (www.moviefone.com): A young Colombian woman, desperate to leave her job as a rose trimmer, agrees to become a drug "mule," transporting packets of heroin that she has swallowed -- and that will certainly kill if her they rupture, or land her in prison if detected.

_____________________________________________________________________________________________

Technical: Techincally, the movie was great. The shots were framed nicely, and actually quite visually interesting. Sound was fine, and the sound effects were impressive considering it was low budget. So was the film quality....probably high end 35 millimeter. It was definitely shot on film. So yes, the film was "pretty looking".

Speaking of pretty looking, I am sometimes upset with the misunderstanding of the public. The dont know who is really responsible for the "look" of the film. Whats even more disheartening is the fact that most people dont even know that a "DP" (Director of Photography) exists. Well...just for claification...Mr. DP is in charge of framing the shots....which this movie did an excellent job of. Still no props for the director yet. For informations sake...the DP was Jim Denault. Cool guy.

Transitions: I know that its unusual to put transitions in its own topic, but the ones in this movie were quite interesting...overused but quite interesting. The director made an interesting mark by not using any fades or cross dissolves. I thought it was an interesting touch. What I didn't like was the discomfort of the cuts. Sometimes these make for a good transition...ending a scene and cutting immediately to a new place with new sounds and sights...but after awhile it becomes jarring and uncomfortable to the viewer. For example...you might be in a hosue...and all of the sudden a jump to motorcycles whirring right in front of you. Its good to capture the audiences attention...but not to be used every time there is a jump in time and rather to be used extremely sparingly. I personally prefer fades.

Story: The story was interesting. I dont think that anyone has actually made a full fledged movie about teens smuggling drugs into the country until now (post if i'm wrong). I give props to the director for writing and directing his movie...but I thought it was also a weakness. To storyboard, direct...AND write a movie takes away from so many aspects of each field. I personally think he was too involved in the acting and not involved enough in sybolism and "deeper meaning"....which we'll get into later. The character development was only fair. You didn't get a sense of the girls mother at all...or any of the boyfriends. The only chracter you really got into was the Main girl. That may have been purposeful, to only let the audience get inside of the main character's head...but because of it I found some of the movie dull. I wanted to know more about the other characters...more about colombian life...but I only found out about Maria. I think the director chose to put a mental block over the other characters which sometimes can prove to be effective, but not in this case. The main reason was probably because he didn't get ENOUGH into Maria's character to have a block on all the others. I feel that if you want to delve inside of a Characters emotion you need much more POVS (Point of View Shots) and more music.

MUSIC: The music that there was, was certainly good...but there wasn't enough...at all. I will at least give the director the knowledge of knowing that when he did use music it was very effective. It gave the peice a certain mood, but whenever there was silence the mood just "flew out of my brain and into my popcorn". I never like movies too much silence. In my opinion it makes them too dull.

Symbolism + Creativity: This is one area that I think the film is lacking. There was little symbolism and the symbolism that there was was obvious. For instance, in Colombia Maria had a job dethorning flowers. When she comes to the US, she sees a man outside a flower store doing the same thing. This immediately triggers the beginning where she is working....almost too immediately. I really thought that the Film could have used some more creative styles of filming...such as montage. Maybe showing the family's reaction to their daughter not being home (after the flight, there is never another shot in Colombia) would have helped too. The film follows only Maria and nobody else. In every scene, maria is there. For me, seeing the same character over and over again without any beak, or any opinions of the girl from other characters was upsetting. Perhaps a police conversation about sketchy Maria, or showing the murder of a girl who men tried to get drugs out of her stomach would have helped. Instead...only the blood on the bathtup was shown. Maybe also, showing some of Marias thoughts of colombia back at home would have helped. For me, the movie was too much like a documentary...documenting everything that happened with Maria and never taking a break...it was unusual yes...but again...dull. I would have loved to see converstions that didn't involve Maria..things that were going on behind her back. Besides when Maria leaves her friend to show a couple segments of the friend living alone....or to show the druglord back home talking about the success of the operation...or to show some shots of the boyfriends worrying...but no...only Maria and her journey was shown.

Also, I think that the director should have done more with paralleling life in Colombia to life in the Big Apple, but because he did not show much of Colombian life in the beginning it was hard to do it. I would have liked to have seen a montage between the two countries...and the types of people living in each.

There was one set of symbolism that I liked. Transportation was big. There were shots of motorcycles riding off into the distance...a way to free oneself from the world...then there were shots of Maria getting onto the plane...only to lead herself into more trouble...into a barred world full of anguish. When maria said goodbye to her friends bicycles were in the distance...showing that it would be her last shot to drive off into eternity...a very intersting idea. Props to the director on that.

There was another part of the movie I absolutely loved. The ending shot. The ending shot was when Maria decided to stay in New York, and a long point of view (in slow motion) of her walking down the airport with dramatic music playing. It was like the whole movie sunk in for me....all of the disturbing and terrible things that happened finally made me upset. The audience leaves with a bit of a depressed feeling. I think that a movie was an overall sucess if it leaves you in a different mood than you were when you came in.

ACTING: The acting in this movie was absolutely fabulous. Thats about all there is to say. Just fabulous. I think that this added greatly to the movie...and was one of the reasons why I thought some other the other characters should have been shown more. With actors that good its good to build up on the characters more.

OVERALL RATING: Overall I would give this movie 3 stars. The idea was interesting...portraying a part of life I had never seen before, with excellently framed shots, good music (when there was music), and some good symbolism. I would recommend that you go see this, just because of the good acting, but I think that the movie could have been more creative...more than just a documentary...and could have had more of an inner meaning.

Sorry for the sloppiness of the review...and I left out alot of things as well. Im just tired...its 12 at night. Well for now...adios kemosabe!

10:12 pm - AMAZING ideas
OKay I have some amazing ideas!!! HERE THEY ARE!!!

1. Checkers club (I am selling checkers in the school tomorrow for this club. If anyone wants to buy they are 25 cents for 1, and a dollar for 10. I have 20 in my stock.) Ms. Sherwood said that she would probably be the advisor so I am really happy. We are also selling another fundraiser which is: how to make a childrens book for adults (ms. Sherwood's idea!).

2. The bake sale club. What this club would do is we would have everyone bring in items one day. We would have a bake sale. Whatever money we would make from that bake sale would GO ON TO FUNDING ANOTHER BAKE SALE!!! AHHH HA HA HA HA. Genious isn't it? The first time though, the money is also going to start the checkers club. The bake sale club is also promoting gambling on school, so we can make more money for delicious baked goods every week.

3. The money for profit club. This is kind of another sub-club to the bake sale club. Okay. So what we do is we sell money for more than its worth. Like a penny would cost 2 cents. And a nickel would cost 7. A dime would cost 20 cents and a quarter would cost 50 cents and so on. Why would people buy money for more than its worth? I have no idea.

SO.......if you are interested in any of these clubs please contact either me, or Tommy, the co president to all of these clubs mentioned. Except the money for profit club (my GENIOUS invention). You could also always e-mail me at Dan1mate@optonline.net if you prefer. The last resort is to talk to Ms. Sherwood who said that she would probably be an advisor to any of my clubs. Great. SEE YA!

11:29 pm - Pledge of Alleigance
We were having a debate today in my dad's car and in Eric's house about whether the words under god should be taken out of the pledge of alleigance......At first I totally agreed with Tommy, but now I am totally against it....I have done a lot of thinking.

The main reason why most of the people who lived in Britain that went to America was because of the restrictions of religion and how the people were forced to agree with the idea of the church of Britain and not beleive in any other sect of religion.....not even another sect of christianity.

They came to get away from this all.......they came here so that eventually they could have a government where church has nothing to do with the state.......where the two organizations are totally separaed........and our fouding fathers wrote the constitution with this in primary focus.

In 1952 when we decided to change it to add the words under god.....congress must have been on crack or something. The did not look into the constitution at all. They did not realize that all of the founding fathers...or at least most of them were very against the "church of Britain" and they wanted to be able to practice their own sects of christianity. Congress in 1952 OBVIOUSLY didn't take this into effect. They just went and said UNDER GOD. This is totally going against the policy of Religion not interfering with state!!!!!!!!!!! Mentioning God in one of our nations most patriotic pledges is totally obsurd.

The whole idea of it is to support nationalism and patriotism.....not RELIGION......and not what religion is the best!

Wow...........I finally got that off of my chest! Sorry Tommy for changing my mind (lol).....and yes.....I am expecting a HORRIBLY LONG comment from you. Hopefully I have swayed you and everyone else to change their positions....but if not........I tried!

11:17 pm - My WONDERFUL FABULOUS AMAZING PREDICTION!
Now, I have a prediction. My predition is about baseball. I see the cubs and the Sox winning the playoffs and going to the series facing eachother in a horrible duel. What will happen in this game is it will go on for hours each extra inning tieing, both teams in utter confusion. No team will be able to win. It will go on for 100 innings, and then at the 101st inning they will make the first stalemate in baseball. I think this because of the curses. The curse of Bambino and the Curse of the Billygoat.....and LET ME TELL YOU.....nobody.....NOBODY messes with the curses.

SIGNING OFF,
